Evaluation

In this assignment I was asked to create a board game containing at least three creatures as well as a background. However getting a picture for the actual box all we needed to do was take an image from the studios that created Harry Potter. And for the three creatures we needed six image to create them.   For our research we were able to find out about different creatures that was shown on the harry potter Octology for example the hippogriff from the first film and the dementors from the third film. The animals we used to create these creatures were from a farm called Stone bridge Farm. But to do this we needed an idea on what animals to take pictures of. I settled on using a horse, a pony, a pig, a pigeon as well as a chicken and a duck. With these animals i will be able to create some interesting images. I wanted to manly have all of my animals with many heads as well as it looking that it has be morphed together with magic.
The animals that I focused on were mammals and birds. the reason behind this choice was that the birds would provide any wing or heads, and the mammals would be the body and legs. There are many thing i had to take into consideration for example i used the cloudy white balance since it was dark enough to warrant its use, another reason would be location on where i take these images since if i take the image within a pen the image would be dark however if i take it while there outside it will would have been somewhat bright than those i took inside, finally the biggest conundrum would have been if the animal was half in and half out then there will be a large contrast on the animals fur. To fix this I had to take the image of each animal with consistency . Thanks to this reasoning I have achieved what i set out to do in this brief since I believe that i have created some interesting images creatures. the shots that I took during our trip to Harry Potter World would be as followed: So out of these images the one I used the second image since it's a box within a box so with Photoshop i could make all three of my creatures come out of the box, this is going to be my cover design for my box and i'll make the sides of the box black and red so that the consumer can focus on the front image. The editing process I used was to have 3 animals of the 6 animals to be placed onto the other 3 animals as different body parts I did this by cutting out what i needed and placed it on a new layer above  the 3 original image and used the luidfy tool to morph the animals together .
The thing that i will be doing differently will as follows; Double checking the aperture, taking shots of subject matters at a different angle and research the different monsters in more detail. the reasons for me saying these things is because in all of my images i had taken at Stone-Bridge farm all had a glare of white on it because of me aperture being too wide and the other one is because most of the pictures i took all of them have been at the same angle. Finally i feel that the research i did didn't suffice enough after i'd done it.However it's not all bad i learned about the different filters on Photoshop as well as the actual editing software. Even though there was some changes I do believe that my final image coincides with what i was going for within my brief. There might be a few alterations but that  was because I couldn't use the images i had or it just did't feel right.

Final Creatures

For my first creature i will be combining the Chicken and the Duck together to create the 'Ducken'. The way I did this was by cutting the Duck out of its picture and overlaying it with the Chicken on a different layer, then i changed the opacity to only 50% so i could cut around the head of the Duck so that it fits around the chicken. My 2nd creature is a 'Pigeonhog' I did this combination by using the clone tool on the Pig and then layered and copied the Pigeon 3 times and then cloned the Pig's ears and fur onto the bodies of the pigeons. My final image is practically using the same editing method as the other images, it's a combination between using the clone tool and the liquidation tool. Also I when I will put my final creatures together I'll be using the gaussen blur then I will change the opacity to around 50%. This will give of the feeling that the creatures are spectral beings

Contact Sheets

ISO: 200

Aperture: F7
Shutter Speed: 1/15
Composition: Rule of Thirds

P1050438: This image is the best because the aperture wasn’t too wide and the shutter speed wasn’t too slow or fast and thanks to the ISO its really detailed

ISO: 200
Aperture: F7
Shutter Speed: 1/15
Composition: Rule of Thirds
P1050408: This image has a nice feel to it because the house in the background has become blurred so that enhances the birds to be more of the focus point

ISO: 200
Aperture: F7
Shutter Speed: 1/15
Composition: Rule of Thirds
P1050404: This image has a nice outcome because of the depth of field is high because of the tree trunk in the back ground.

ISO: 200

P1050403: This image has to high of an exposure from the wide aperture also there is a blur because of the low Shutter speed.

Memory Check (Employees)

This memory check is based around employability
1. Detail four attributes/skills you need to show at an interview, for example: Self-management – your readiness to accept responsibility, flexibility, resilience, self-starting, time management, readiness to improve your own performance based on feedback and reflective learning

1. Self Improvement: this is just a saying for 'going out of your own way to improve results or improve your product.'
2. Reliable: This means that a employer can rely upon the're employee in case of an emergency of some kind
3. Teamwork: To be able to work within a group for such tasks as creating the products that the costumers or if you are part of the advertising team to sell the product.
4. Compromising: being able to allow other ideas to float around and not being uncompromising.

Edited Images

To begin with i chose 6 images that had potential and begun to edit them. My first image is a Chicken however it has been a victim of over exposure so i decided to use the level tool to change the exposure.
The Image above the one to the image to the left is the before and this one is after. the reason why i choice this shot of the chicken is because it has a clear enough outline for the body so when it comes to creating the final three images it just makes it easier for me.

My next image is that of the Ducks However the duck I'm wanting to use is in the middle of two white Ducks so i had to change the photo filter to an orange to make the middle Duck to stand out more.

I used the same kind of technique of correcting the over exposure like with the chicken however insted of using levels i used curves because is has a more of 'hands on'  approach. I did this to all of the other pictures i had picked out, since they don't need a drastic change.

Risk evaluation

The risks of going to the Stone Bridge farm are:
•Road Accident
•Hit and Run
•Theif
• Potential for disease
•getting cut from metal
•broken camera

I'm going to reduce these risks by:

  • Walking across designated areas as well as focusing on the traffic lights as well as the road
  • Using the the hand sanitizer placed around the farm, look both ways on the streets, keeping the camera stored until we get to the farm and finally not climbing or running around any pieces of sharp metal

Stone Bridge Farm photography propsal

Proposal

Next week we are going to a farm to take around 40 test shots so that we can adjust the camera as we go along to the next animal. Then we will make 4 contact sheets. These contact sheets consisted of 10 images. Then we will pick 6 of these images to edit it into 3 different images.I will do this by going around the farm and taking pictures of the different animals ill be mainly using the shutter speed and aperture. The reason behind this is, animal in comparison to humans the photographer can't control their actions when they are within enclosures so a professional photographer would have his/hers camera on the setting to represent this. For example a pro would use a high ISO and a large aperture for a high detailed image of a bird and have it contrast to the blurry background. While having a high shutter speed will allow for a non-blurred image of a animal in motion. So with this knowledge ill be taking at least 30 test shot of the different animals on the farm. I won't be using any flash since if an animal were to come close towards the fence it might become violent, also since we are going in the morning we will have enough natural natural lights. Hopefully that the animals i am wishing to take images of will stand in front of wall or at an angle were the background is just grass so i can have an easier job of cutting the animal out in Photoshop.

Then i'll use 6 of the best image available on the contact sheet to be able to create all 3 of my creatures. To do this i will be mainly focusing on birds for the head and wings and the mammals for the bodies and the legs, since it will provide interesting combinations.

However i will need to take the environmental hazard to the camera since it could have the potential to rain so i'll be wear a water proof coat that can be used to shelter the camera. Another problem would be the mud on the ground, I believe this can be considered as a serious problem since there hasn't been any sun for a while so the ground would be ether damp or muddy. This could lead to myself losing balance and falling over as well as dropping the camera and having it brake, so to improve the chance on this not happening would be wear appropriate footwear.
